چکیده
We report a novel approach for effectively separating DNA molecules in free solution. The method uses a bare narrow open capillary without any sieving matrices to resolve a wide size-range of DNA fragments at efficiencies of more than a million plates per meter routinely.

Surfactant bilayer coatings in narrow-bore capillaries in capillary electrophoresis.
The cationic surfactants didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB) and dioctadecyldimethyl-ammonium bromide (DODAB) have previously been shown to form semi-permanent coatings that effectively prevent adsorption of cationic proteins in fused silica capillaries with inner diameters of 25-75 µm. This paper investigates the impact that narrower capillary diameters (≤25 µm) have on the stability of s...
متن کاملFast DNA sieving through submicrometer cylindrical glass capillary matrix.
Here, we report on DNA electrophoresis through a novel artificial sieving matrix based on the highly regular submicrometer cylindrical glass capillary segments alternatingly arranged with wells. Such round capillaries pose a higher-order confinement resulting in a lower partition coefficient and greater entropic energy barrier while limiting the driving field strength to a small fraction of the...
متن کاملApplications of short-chain polydimethylacrylamide as sieving medium for the electrophoretic separation of DNA fragments and mutation analysis in uncoated capillaries.
In capillary electrophoresis (CE), separation of DNA fragments is usually performed in covalently coated capillaries. Recent studies have demonstrated that certain polymers form a dynamic coating on the inner surface of the capillary, thereby suppressing the electroosmotic flow and DNA-capillary wall interactions. We developed a simple method for the synthesis of short-chain polydimethylacrylam...
متن کاملMathematical Analysis of MHD Flow of Blood in Very Narrow Capillaries (RESEARCH NOTE)
A mathematical model for blood flow in narrow capillaries under the effect of transverse magnetic field has been investigated. It is assumed that there is a lubricating layer between red blood cells and tube wall. The transient flow of the fit red blood cell surrounded by plasma annulus in the narrow capillary is considered. The analysis of fluid flow between red cell and tube wall, when the ce...
متن کاملCharging YOYO-1 on Capillary Wall for Online DNA Intercalation and Integrating This Approach with Multiplex PCR and Bare Narrow Capillary–Hydrodynamic Chromatography for Online DNA Analysis
Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has been widely utilized for high-throughput pathogen identification. Often, a dye is used to intercalate the amplified DNA fragments, and identifications of the pathogens are carried out by DNA melting curve analysis or gel electrophoresis. Integrating DNA amplification and identification is a logic path toward maximizing the benefit of multiplex PCR. ...
